WestEnd Science Fiction
4 Punkte von Leif Magne Tangen:
I remember first time around I saw this film (my very local cinema in Sørvågen, Lofoten, Norway where we still have pause to change railes of movie – thus actually giving meaning again to Taylors job in the cinema), anyway, I was struck by its strickening visuality, its
special effects I only have learned little of the origne of by studying photography history (actually just one of them, there are many who are new for us in 99), its quasi-philosofical
this is not what you think it is, this is not the real world with a number of references (like follow the white rabbit from alice in wonderland). It was just great. When I found my self in Oslo seeing the movie later that summer the audience was laughing – not beeing used to this type of f conceptual usage of material. At that point I thougt I had misunderstud the film totaly, today I know that this was just a way to express feelings. but in the end I do think that the most interesting thing about this film is the fact that it is one of three films in 99 that gives away freedom in return for violence also on the philosofical level of the film.

much better than the actual "sci-fi" efforts, but too pretentious. i dont see any new philosophical statement at all. man vs machine, reality vs. virtuality.... and? when it comes to philosophy/sci-fi id rather talk about "blade runner".... there is a story behind, and thats surprising, if we compare it to the actual usa-action movies scene.
my four points go to the visual/esthetic side of the film... they are almost vanguardistic. just almost! ;)
